A huge development for the Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar this year. Tom Brady and Jimmie Johnson are joining forces with Chip Ganassi Racing. Two seven-time champions come together to enter The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Tom Brady is going to enter the world of motorsports in the biggest race of the year. With Jimmie Johnson and Chip Ganassi, he joins a veteran ownership group who have been around racing for their whole lives.

Tony Donohue detailed the report on his podcast, The Tony D Podcast. Sebastien Bourdais is the driver Donohue is hearing tied to this new ride.

“Tom Brady and Jimmie Johnson are joining forces to be co-owners alongside Chip Ganassi of the fourth entry for the 19th Indianapolis 500 coming up in May, and the driver would be … Sebastien Bourdais,” Donohue explained.

The IndyCar reported also said that Carvana will be the sponsor. What a development and what a great tie in for IndyCar’s first season on FOX.

There is a lot of marketing behind this new partnership. Throw in the fact that Brady is involved in the Indianapolis 500 as an owner now and the interest is only going to increase. Let’s not forget that we will likely see Kyle Larson back in Indy for 2025 as well.

So, what do you think of this news? While we have seen Jimmie Johnson try his hand at racing in IndyCar, now we will see him as an owner.

Sebastien Bourdais is a fantastic choice for the Indianapolis 500. Four-time Champ Car champion. He is a Daytona 24 Hours winner, a Le Mans class winner, and a two-time 12 Hours of Sebring winner as well. Bourdais also made 27 starts in Formula One.

With all of his accolades, Bourdais has never won the Indy 500. He has a best finish of P7 from 2014 when he raced for KV Racing Technology. Lately, Bourdais has been focusing on endurance racing.

Jimmie Johnson raced for Chip Ganassi in his two seasons in IndyCar. No, he did not find much success during that time, but that relationship still exists between the two parties.
