Tom Brady vs. Skip Bayless is reportedly set to be the next big media fight due to NFL Draft hot takes. The long-time sports commentator went after Brady following the draft after the Las Vegas Raiders repeatedly passed on Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders, his family and Brady have a great relationship. Naturally, due to Brady’s stake in ownership of the Raiders, Las Vegas was seen as a fit to develop Sanders and eventually make him the team’s franchise quarterback.

But after Bayless asked why Brady and the Raiders passed on Sanders, using all caps on Twitter/X of course, the future Hall of Famer reportedly fired back. At least, behind the scenes.

“Tom thinks that Skip Bayless is an idiot for thinking he had anything to do with Shedeur’s downfall in the NFL Draft,” an insider told The Daily Mail in a report. “Tom has limited say in what players the Raiders pick in the NFL Draft or whomever they sign. Pete Carroll (head coach) and Mark Davis (owner) have the final say on everything with the team. Will they talk to Tom for his advice? Absolutely, but Tom had no sway on getting Shedeur or staying away from him. …

“Now that Tom is in the media himself and has had to deal with Skip forever, it is just another ridiculous accusation that Tom isn’t going to give any life to for Skip’s benefit. It is just stupid banter.”

If the insider is accurate, Brady won’t be responding publicly or even privately to Bayless. Bayless is just independent media now following his departure from Fox Sports. The long-time hot-take artist and debate show commentator might be the OG of the medium, at least when it comes to hot takes, over the last 20 years.

But for Brady, he’s focused on Year 2 of his color analyst role at FOX for its top NFL package and his role with the Raiders. He recently called Super Bowl LIX with Kevin Burkhardt in his first year on the mic.

“Tom Brady, he’s an all-time great” Sanders told Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Being able to have that resource, being able to have that person I’m able to talk to and call whenever I’m having questions about the game and he’s able to relate to it because he did it at the highest level. It’s truly amazing and I’m thankful for that.”

While Sanders won’t suit up for the Raiders, and instead have to make hay with the Browns, Brady is likely a phone call away. At this point, it’s probably just for advice between friends.
