Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Monday morning. In the hours after the arrest, he was subsequently released from custody but new details acquired by TMZ paint a troubling picture.

According to TMZ’s report, which released Tuesday, Smith argued with law enforcement and made threats to police officers while refusing to take a breath test.

“I’ll f*** every one of y’all up,” an officer says Smith told them, via TMZ. “You don’t want to see me out of these cuffs, you don’t want to know what will happen.”

The report also indicates that officers took Smith to a local hospital for blood testing after his breath test refusal. It also claims that he later refused a blood test.

In addition, TMZ acquired the arresting officer’s description of a combative interaction.

“I joked with him about how my wife thinks I work too much. Somehow he said that’s because ‘you have a little d***,'” the document suggests.

“I said, wow, maybe that is the problem, then he said you have a little d***, ‘you have little d*** syndrome.'”

A previous TMZ report on the incident claims that police initially pulled Smith over for speeding, but made the arrest after assessing his condition.

“Being arrested brings a taint onto the reputation that is impossible to undo, no matter what really happened,” Smith wrote. “I’m asking all of you to hold back on judging me the same as you would do for a friend or family member.”

The former West Virginia star added that he plans to share more on the early Monday morning incident “down the road.”

“Geno is fully cooperative with the investigation. I hope that an open mind can be kept by all as the facts are ascertained,” Smith’s attorney Jon Fox said in a statement.

Smith has spent three seasons with the Seahawks and was the go-to replacement for Russell Wilson this season when he was out due to finger surgery. Smith’s 2021 season saw him throw for 702 yards and five touchdowns and only one interception. Seattle head coach Pete Carroll told the media that Smith participated in end-of-season meetings on Monday.

“I checked in with him. We have to let his people handle all that,” Carroll said. “He was in the [team] meeting today with us. I don’t have anything other than that to give to you on that.”

The eight-year veteran from West Virginia began his career with the New York Jets going in the second round of the NFL draft. Smith is currently finishing a one-year contract with Seattle and will be a free agent for the 2022 NFL season.
