Fans gather along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl victory parade Friday, February 14, 2025.

Two women were reportedly shot along Philadelphia’s Ben Franklin Parkway on Friday as large crowds gathered to celebrate the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory parade, according to CBS News.

Philadelphia police said the women were shot in the leg and showed up at a medical tent at 23rd and Spring Garden on Friday as the parade was passing nearby. Both are in stable condition, according to CBS News. It’s unclear what led to the shooting.

Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore revealed the women, who appeared to be in their 20s, were shot by a man in an Eagles jersey following an argument likely near the Park Towne Place apartments and 23rd Street, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Further details were unavailable Friday afternoon.

This is the second straight Super Bowl victory parade marred by a shooting after Kansas City had a similar incident that killed one woman during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII parade last year.

Two adults charged with murder in Kansas City Chiefs rally shooting

Two men have been charged with murder for the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade on Feb. 14, 2024. The shooting left 22 people injured and one woman dead.

“Both adults are charged with second-degree murder and other charges,” according to the Associated Press. “They have been hospitalized since the shooting, Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said during a news conference.

“The new charges come after two juveniles were detained last week on gun-related and resisting arrest charges. Authorities said more charges are possible. Police have said a dispute among several people led to the shooting, which happened even as 800 police officers patrolled the celebration.”

Per the Kansas City Star, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said on Tuesday, that Lyndell Mays and Dominic M. Miller each face a felony murder charge for their actions.

“Prior to the shooting, Mays was in a verbal argument with another person that he had no prior history or connection with. That argument quickly escalated and Mays drew a handgun,” Baker said. “Almost immediately, others, including Miller, pulled their firearms.

“Mays and Miller each have also been charged with two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. They each are being held on $1 million bond.”

Patrick Mahomes posts message of support after Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade shooting

Patrick Mahomes released a message of support following the shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade on Feb. 14, 2024. Shots broke out at the end of the route near Kansas City’s Union Station as the franchise was celebrating its second straight title.

Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs were wrapping up the celebration just three days after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. Police said one person was killed in the shooting, and there were 10 victims. Two people were taken into custody.

“Praying for Kansas City…” Mahomes wrote on X.
