USC guard Boogie Ellis has received an invite to the G League Elite Camp, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. The Chicago-based event will host 44 players. The standouts from the camp will receive an invite to the NBA Draft Combine, with hopes to further build their draft stock.

Ellis spent three seasons with the Trojans after playing the first two years of his collegiate career at Memphis. In the 2023-24 season, Ellis averaged a team-high 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 41.8% from beyond the arc.

For his efforts, he was named an All-Pac-12 Second Team member. In his three seasons with the Trojans, Ellis appeared and started in 91 games. He averaged 15.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest while shooting 42.5% from the floor and 39% from deep.

During his two seasons with Memphis, Ellis made 59 appearances and 42 starts. After averaging 10.2 points per game in his sophomore season, he was named the 2021 AAC Co-Sixth Man of the Year.

Ellis exploded for 25 points while shooting 5-10 from 3-point range in USC’s opening round win over Washington in the Pac-12 Tournament. However, he was unable to replicate the feat in the Trojans’ season-ending loss to Arizona.

Boogie Ellis played high school basketball at Mission Bay (CA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 38 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

NBA team reportedly interested in Bronny James

Ellis isn’t the only USC player who has received NBA buzz. According to Shams Charania, the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in drafting Bronny James if it will ensure Lebron James’ return to the team next season.

“His option date is June 29th and guys, this is interesting because June 29th is after the NBA draft and right before free agency,” Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show. “LeBron James will have all the answers he needs to have by that point. What happens with his son, Bronny James, if he does stay in the draft? Another thing I reported and we reported, the Lakers very much have interest in drafting Bronny James.

“They know LeBron James has spoken on the record about wanting to play with Bronny and at the end of the day, he wants the best for Bronny.”

Bronny James played his freshman season at USC, coming off the bench and making a few starts. However, following the season, he entered the transfer portal and also entered the NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility.
