The Minnesota Vikings have emerged as a potential candidate for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. It was reported Saturday that Sam Darnold is not expected to re-sign with the Vikings, leaving a void at the QB position for the franchise.

Rodgers, who is 41, is coming off of a season with the New York Jets in which he threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. But the Jets finished just 5-12 and opted to release Rodgers at the end of 2024.

Rodgers was previously a quarterback from the Green Bay Packers from 2005-22, leading them to a Super Bowl win in the 2010 season. He has won four MVP awards and been named to the Pro Bowl 10 times throughout his career.

Although he’s clearly a Hall of Fame caliber player, injuries and age seem to have caught up with him in recent seasons. But perhaps one team is still willing to take another chance on him in 2025, with the New York Giants also reportedly interested.

“I’m told that they’re basically going to scour the earth for quarterback help,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said during an appearance during SportsCenter on Saturday morning. “They were really left at the altar in the Matthew Stafford situation when he went back to LA. They spent about a month on that deal. It’s tough.

“You’ve got Aaron Rodgers there. Certainly, there seems to be a little momentum league-wide that Rogers could be a New York Giant. He still has a home in New Jersey when he played for the [Jets]. That could all shake out, but they’re expected to look at a lot of these guys.”

Maxx Crosby calls for Aaron Rodgers to join Las Vegas Raiders

Aaron Rodgers will be playing somewhere new in the 2025 season. The New York Jets recently released the quarterback after just two seasons with the franchise. If Rodgers does sign somewhere else, it will be the third team of his career.

If you ask Maxx Crosby, No. 12 head out West to play for the Las Vegas Raiders. Crosby believes a big season is coming from Rodgers, nearly two years removed from his Achilles injury. Las Vegas is in desperate need of a quarterback and Crosby certainly made his pitch.

“I think with all the doubt, all the negativity around Aaron Rodgers — ‘Oh, he needs to retire.’ Things like that, he’s getting cut by the Jets. I know he’s 42 or 41… I think he’s going to have a big year this year. I hope it’s in our town,” Crosby said.

“The first year off an Achilles is one of the hardest things to do. You seen it happen with Kirk (Cousins). Kirk had a down year. It happened with Aaron. He struggled early on but got better as the season went.”
