The NASCAR Xfinity Series could soon have a name change, but that might not happen for at least another year. A new report makes the case for Xfinity to stay as the title sponsor of NASCAR’s second-tier series for 2025.
Of course, Xfinity is more than just the sponsor of the second NASCAR series. They are a premier partner of the Cup Series along with GEICO, Coca-Cola, and Busch Light. NASCAR wants to add another fifth partner soon, but are still searching.
NASCAR brought on Xfinity as the title sponsor in 2015. The series moving to The CW in 2025 complicates certain things. They are tied in with Comcast and NBC Sports. So, it makes sense in the current TV broadcast deal.
But if NBC doesn’t have rights to the Xfinity Series in 2025, that ruins that whole streamlined partnership they have. Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal is reporting that Xfinity could stay on for one more year on a short-term deal.
“The major question is whether Comcast will continue being both a premier partner of NASCAR and title sponsor of the Xfinity Series, Stern writes. “Sources say it’s possible Xfinity could do a short-term renewal as title sponsor before shifting its relationship in the coming years to just being a premier partner.”
As NASCAR begins this next chapter on a new TV deal, and eventually a new charter agreement, there will be changes. Sponsors and partners are going to come and go. It feels like NASCAR has a lot of positive momentum at the moment, they have to now take advantage.

NASCAR Xfinity Series season heating up
This season the NASCAR Xfinity Series has put on great races. This is a series that is dialed in as far as the cars are concerned and the mix of talent both old and new makes for exciting racing on a weekly basis.
Shane van Gisbergen has three wins on the year. They are all on road or street courses. As he learns to get better on these ovals, he’s going to close the gap on the other championship contenders.
The big news this week is that Cole Custer finally got back to Victory Lane. He not only earned his first win of the season but also Ford’s first Xfinity win in 2024. Custer had to outduel Justin Allgaier down the stretch. That could be a common theme as the championship gets closer.
If Xfinity is out as the title sponsor, how will we know how fast the cars are without internet service to compare it to?
