Ric Flair is calling out the Pro Football Hall of Fame in an effort to get Chicago Bears legend Steve McMichael a spot in Canton. The WWE superstar still can’t believe the former defensive lineman hasn’t been inducted.

Flair recently made an appearance on FOX News Digital, calling on the Pro Football Hall of Fame to include McMichael.

“July 27 is the last day. If he don’t get into the Hall of Fame – He’s got better numbers than Warren Sapp. I don’t get it,” Flair said, per The Comeback. “He’s laying there with ALS. What the [heck] is wrong with these guys?”

McMichael suffers from ALS, a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. He is fully paralyzed and cannot speak.

McMichael played in the NFL for 15 seasons, spending a majority of his career with the Bears. He started with the New England Patriots in 1980 and landed in Chicago in 1981. He played for the Bears through 1993 before playing his final season with the Green Bay Packers in 1994.

In his career, McMichael earned five All-Pro bids — twice on the first-team and earning a second-team spot three times. He also reached two Pro Bowls.

McMichael was a member of the 1985 Bears team that won a Super Bowl. He finished his career with 838 tackles and 95 sacks.

Following his time in the NFL, McMichael moved into the world of professional wrestling. That’s where he and Flair met and became friends. They still maintain a strong bond today.

“His wife calls me every day and I go, ‘I don’t know what more I can do.’ I can post it on my social media,” Flair said.

A total of 60 semifinalists were named for the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class. McMichael’s name made the list. The July 27 date Flair mentioned in his comment refers to the day when the respective selection committee will vote to send 12 senior members to the next round of consideration.

On Aug. 22, another round of voting occurs and three seniors can be considered as members for the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class.

McMichael did enough during his career in professional football to earn a spot in Canton. Hopefully, the selection committee can finally give the former Bears star his spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Then, McMichael and Flair will have something to celebrate.
