Richard Childress compares relationship with Kyle Busch to that of Dale Earnhardt

Kyle Busch shocked the world when he joined forces with Richard Childress at RCR to begin a new chapter of his career.
With three victories under his belt already, we’re willing to say it’s been working out pretty well for both sides. So much so, that Childress is beginning to compare his relationship with Busch to that of arguably the greatest driver to ever take the wheel in Dale Earnhardt, another big personality who drove for RCR.
“He’s helped us all around,” Childress said, speaking highly of Busch’s impact. “Number one, he’s winning races, showing we can win races. He’s helped Austin [Dillon] a whole lot. Austin’s had some really good runs. He drove up to about tenth until the No. 2 car wrecked him there on purpose, sort of a payback. But you know, Kyle has been really, I mean, he’s such a pleasure to work with.
“Everybody said, ‘Man, how are y’all going to get along?’ Same question they asked me about, ‘You and Dale [Earnhardt] won’t last six months.’ We lasted 20 years. I want to keep Kyle there, and hopefully we can end his career when he gets ready to.”
Of course, Earnhardt and Childress had one of the best partnerships in the history of the sport. While it’ll take some time, perhaps Busch can mimic the greatness of “The Intimidator” at RCR.
Time will tell, but Kyle Busch isn’t going anywhere. He’s found a new life at Richard Childress Racing, and the sky is the limit moving forward.

More on Kyle Busch, victory at Gateway
Once again, Kyle Busch was leading a race that just didn’t want to end. He has been bitten on superspeedways in the past with restarts. However, the Enjoy Illinois 300 would not turn out like Daytona earlier this season. Despite five restarts in the last 40 or so laps of the race, Busch held on.
To make it even more interesting, Busch had to hold off Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin. Larson was a rock most of the day, with no speed and little momentum. Then, that Hendrick No. 5 team got him tuned up and ready to compete.
It also didn’t help that a very fast Denny Hamlin was looking to play spoiler on the final overtime restart. While Busch’s crew chief Randall Burnett was sweating it out, Rowdy was on the track making sure he could put this race away.
By the time the white flag flew and the final lap came around, Kyle Busch was well out front and had the race in his own hands. Thankfully, his brake rotor held up on that last lap around. The same could not be said for many drivers that had their rotors blow up on the track.
Three wins, what is to stop Busch from picking up some more before the playoffs?
