San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was the victim of a shooting in an apparent robbery incident, according to a report from KGO-TV’s Dion Lim. No further details were available at the time of publication.

FOX-40’s Kirsten Moran-Keller reported Pearsall was going to a signing when the robbery occurred, which involved a Rolex. Both he and the suspect were injured and transported to San Francisco’s General Hospital. Pearsall is in stable condition.

The 49ers selected Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Florida. He put together back-to-back impressive seasons after transferring from Arizona State and led the Gators with 965 receiving yards to go with four touchdowns in 2023.

Pearsall missed the first part of training camp with a hamstring injury and ended up getting back on the field. However, a lingering shoulder injury was expected to play a role in his rookie season, and the hope was he would be available for Week 1.

Ricky Pearsall impressed the coaching staff when he returned from his hamstring issue with his ability to know his role. Kyle Shanahan noted the progress he made and what type of role he could play in the offense this season.

“Just because the ball gets thrown to them doesn’t mean they did good or bad always,” Shanahan said. “You get zoned 80% of the time out there. I didn’t realize he didn’t catch a pass, but when I get in there, I’m going watch him run at least 16 routes during plays. So, you expect everyone to catch it when it comes to you. So that really doesn’t affect me in terms of like what we see from a practice, but it’s been cool watching him in the run game.

“He definitely understands our standard. It’s not someone we have to call in and be like, we need more. He gets it. He’s doing everything he can and just continuing to get more reps.”

The 49ers had plenty of questions at wide receiver as training camp went along. However, they answered the biggest earlier this week when they signed Brandon Aiyuk to a big-time extension amid his holdout. That means he and Deebo Samuel will both be back as top receiver targets for Brock Purdy as this season gets underway Sept. 8.
