Ricky Stenhouse runs over opponent, flips car attempting to 'repay' frustration
At the end of Friday’s Chili Bowl qualifier, Ricky Stenhouse and Logan Seavey had a moment. Stenhouse ended up flipping Seavey’s car as he tried to “repay” some frustration.
As the checkered flag came down, Seavey came in fourth while Stenhouse fell to fifth. From there, the two cars collided and ended up on top of one another.
However, that wasn’t Stenhouse’s intent. He pointed out something that happened earlier in the race when Seavey tried to use him up, and he was just trying to tag him. Stenhouse knows how important each spot is in the qualifier and said he wasn’t trying to flip him.
“I got used up by Seavey and was gonna repay my frustrations with a tag to his rear bumper,” Stenhouse said afterward. “When he slowed down, I caught his left rear. Not ideal. Not what I was expecting to do. Was just gonna give him a shot to the rear bumper. Wasn’t really thrilled with – I thought he’s good enough here that he’d hit the bottom and not use me up for fourth. I don’t know. Watched all week. I should’ve expected it, I guess.
“I’d gotten back around him, but my angle was so far off for where he was, and my only option was over the curb. That gave us up a spot there coming into line, which is crucial. Wasn’t real thrilled about that, and not ideal after the race. More of was going to be a tag in the rear bumper.”

At the time he met with reporters, Ricky Stenhouse said he hadn’t yet talked to Seavey about what happened. He expected a conversation to take place, though.
“I haven’t,” Stenhouse said when asked if the two talked at all after the qualifier. “I just got back. I’m sure we will.”
Justin Grant finished first in Midgets Qualifier 1. He was followed by Jason McDougal in second and Michael Faccinto in third. Seavey then came in fourth while Stenhouse was right behind him at fifth before they wrecked.
