For Stewart-Haas Racing drivers, the 2025 season is not guaranteed. Riley Herbst apparently has many options to choose from. That isn’t a surprise as the NASCAR driver carries Monster Energy sponsorship.

The Haas Factory Team is going to have two Xfinity Series rides. But that doesn’t mean that Riley Herbst is going to land one of those rides. In fact, he may want to move on from Haas completely after the closure of Stewart-Haas Racing.

While speaking with the media on Saturday, Herbst was asked about his 2025 options. Turns out, it isn’t just about what he wants to do, his sponsor has a big say in it as well.

“I think there’s a lot of things going on behind the scenes, but it’s not really just Riley Herbst, it’s Monster Energy as well,” the driver said. “So, the biggest thing is trying to see what’s right for me, what’s right for Monster Energy. I have really good people around me with Josh Jones and Kevin Harvick trying to guide me in the right position and I’m going to lean on their experience. I had last year, I’m going to again this year and there’s a lot of options on the table. So, we’re looking forward to everything and hearing everybody out.”

When asked if they were Cup Series offers or something else, Riley Herbst confirmed he had offers for all three national series.

“It’s all three series.”

In his NASCAR career, Herbst has but one national series victory. It came at Las Vegas last season in the Xfinity Series Playoffs, but Herbst had already been eliminated from the postseason.

Is Riley Herbst ready for the Cup Series?

In a handful of Cup Series starts, Herbst has impressed. At least on the superspeedways he has. P10 at Daytona and P9 at Talladega. He ran the 2023 and 2024 Daytona 500 for Rick Ware Racing. His top-10 finish at Talladega was with Front Row Motorsports.

Riley Herbst has talent. But his Xfinity career is now in its fifth full-time season. He raced for Joe Gibbs in 2020. Since then he has been with SHR. Only one win in that time period is not just a shame, but disappointing.

Then again, Herbst has Monster Energy as his sponsor. They carry a ton of money and influence when it comes to landing a ride in any national series. This season, without a win, Herbst is sixth in the point standings. He has two runner-up finishes from Dega and Iowa.

Riley Herbst has a good history at Nashville Superspeedway, though. In three starts at Nashville Superspeedway, Herbst has finishes of P10, P3, and P2. He even won the pole for this race in 2022. If he wants to land a 23XI Racing or Front Row Motorsports ride in 2025, I think a win this season is almost a must.
