Rob Dillingham shares NBA stars he models his game after ahead of 2024 NBA Draft

The 2024 NBA Draft gets underway on Wednesday with an exciting group of new players ready to invade the league. One of those is Rob Dillingham, who put up points in a hurry during his one season at Kentucky.
Dillingham is far from a finished product, but he is an excellent scorer who can create his own shot and set up his teammates for success.
He spoke with Shams Charania ahead of the NBA Draft about his game and who he models it after.
“I really just take pieces of Kevin Durant, Steve Nash, Kyrie Irving, just different players from over the years that all do different things, and just try to add it all in one or do what they do best and add that to the game,” Rob Dillingham said.
The Charlotte native averaged 15.2 points and 3.9 assists per game for Kentucky in 2023-24, but he also averaged two turnovers per game and was inconsistent in some aspects.
As Rob Dillingham continues to get older and matures as a player, he believes he can take his game to another level and be an impact player in the NBA.
“Honestly I just feel confident. I don’t feel like I need to prove anything. I just feel like I’ve been doing this my whole life, so this is where I believed I would be, and it’s kind of crazy I’m here now,” Dillingham said. “So seeing it it’s even crazier. But I feel like when you try to prove to someone, that’s when it goes left. You can prove to yourself.
“Honestly I’m just proving to myself that I belong here, and step-by-step I feel like I’ve been doing that this whole time. So I’m just taking it step by step.”

James Fletcher of On3 released his latest mock draft on Monday and he has Dillingham landing with the Miami Heat at pick No. 15.
Dillingham was asked where he sees himself landing and if there’s anywhere in particular he wants to go. He insists he cares more about fit than anything else.
“Honestly, people have been asking me this a lot recently, and I look at it as like I just want to be in a position to play basketball somewhere where a coach is going to trust me and he actually believes in me to play. Because when I’m comfortable and I trust and I know that I have trust built into me, I feel like I can give you my all,” Dillingham said.
“So I feel like any situation that trusts me and invests in me to help their team, I feel like I can do anything they need me to do, whether it’s pass and shoot and being a star player or being a backup point guard.”
