Rob Gronkowski loved the work Tom Brady did as a broadcaster during the 2024 NFL season. Before Super Bowl LIX, On3 spoke to Gronkowski who shared his thoughts on Brady calling NFL games for FOX.

“He’s doing an excellent job and I’m so proud of him,” Rob Gronkowski told On3. “He has definitely improved as well since his first couple games, which is understandable. I mean, it’s such a tough job to do, there’s so much pressure on you. You never called a game ever, for that long in your life, to be up in that booth and break down plays like that.

“But you get better as you go on, and that’s all… I expect nothing less from Tom Brady as well, to get better, because he loves to practice good habits, he loves to get better, he’ll do anything it takes to get better. And just to see his improvement from week one to where he is in the playoffs now, is just tremendous, didn’t expect anything less. And he’s doing such a great job in the playoffs, it’s like he’s a veteran now.”

Tom Brady says he’s a ‘long ways’ from being a polished broadcaster

Tom Brady called Super Bowl LIX with Kevin Burkhardt since he’s part of FOX’s top NFL broadcast team. The seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback is in an interesting situation as he’s FOX’s lead broadcaster and a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Because of his ties with the Raiders, Brady was barred from attending both production meetings ahead of games and also team practices, other than Las Vegas’s this past season.

Brady signed a 10-year, $300 million contract with FOX in 2022. He was still playing in the NFL at the time but retired once the 2022 season ended. Brady took a year off in 2023 and began his broadcasting career this past fall.

During Super Bowl week, Brady evaluated his first year as a broadcaster. “It feels like it was about 10 years ago because there’s been such a learning curve,” Brady said. “I understand I’m a long ways from being a finished product as a broadcaster, but I really enjoy the opportunity and I am very grateful to all the people that I work with every week.”
