Rob Gronkowski says Brock Bowers is an 'absolute savage'

Rob Gronkowski loved what Brock Bowers did during his rookie season with the Las Vegas Raiders. The four-time Super Bowl champion tight end spoke to On3 before Super Bowl LIX and shared his thoughts on Bowers who caught 112 passes for 1,195 yards and five touchdowns in 2024.
“Brock Bowers is an absolute savage,” Rob Gronkowski told On3. “What I like most about him is that he has such reliable hands, wherever the ball is thrown, he’s like a vacuum, he’ll go and get that ball. And then he’s got such great yards after the catch as well, he pummels through defenders and he makes those defensive backs in and safeties tackle him. So I just love his game overall, especially how crisp his routes are as well.”
Bowers has the NFL records for most receptions by a rookie in a season and the most receiving yards in a rookie season by a tight end. It’s not a big surprise to see Bowers play at a high level as he was selected to the All-SEC First Team from 2021-2023 and won the John Mackey Award twice during his time with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Comparing Brock Bowers to Rob Gronkowski
Gronkowski is one of the best tight ends to play in the NFL but did not have a rookie season like Bowers. In 2010, Gronkowski caught 42 passes for 546 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games with 11 starts. He then went on to have a Hall of Fame career, catching 621 passes for 9,286 yards and 92 TDs.

There’s no reason Bowers can’t have the same type of success if he can stay healthy. Along with breaking NFL records, Bowers was named to the Pro Bowl, All-Pro First Team and finished second in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting behind Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Earlier this month, Bowers talked about his Pro Bowl experience. “It’s pretty awesome,” Bowers told ESPN’s Ryan Clark when asked about his experience being around the NFL’s best, per Raiders.com. “Just to meet some of these guys, get to know them a little bit and kind of make some connections around the league, it’s been good.”
Bowers added, “You never know how your game is going to translate at the next level. I just went out there and played my game and it worked out pretty good, I think.”
