Rob Gronkowski to skydive on live TV before Sunday NFL games in honor of Veteran's Day
Curt Menefee of FOX Sports announced Friday that Rob Gronkowski will jump out of an airplane on live TV during “FOX NFL Sunday” in honor of Veteran’s Day.
As you would expect, it sounds like the former NFL tight end was the only member of the NFL crew on FOX to get the invite to go skydiving. The rest of the crew — Menefee, Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson and Jay Glazer — will remain grounded at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado.
“As part of the show… [Rob Gronkowski] is going to jump out of an airplane live,” Menefee said. “Now, there will be a parachute with him, so you have to make sure with Gronk, you never quite know. But he’s going to do it live on the air. I’m looking forward to seeing that because it’s one thing to sit around and go, ‘Oh, I’ll jump out of a plane and I’m not nervous and I’ll do that.’ It’s different when it comes time to strap it on and go up — I think it’s going to be 11,000 feet he’s going to jump from — and have to do that live on television. So, I’m interested to see if he’s able to step up to the plate and do it.”

Rob Gronkowski headlines festivities for FOX NFL Sunday Veteran’s Day broadcast
Gronkowski making an estimated 11,000-foot jump out of an airplane is just one of many scheduled events to take place during the two-hour broadcast, which begins at 11 a.m. ET on FOX. An exclusive conversation with San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will air. The 74-year-old attended the United States Air Force Academy from 1966-70. Additionally, there will be a C-130 Hercules flyover from the 302nd Airlift Wing during the national anthem sung by the Academy Cadet Chorale.
“Our entire network looks forward to continuing our longstanding tradition of honoring our armed forces every year during our FOX NFL SUNDAY broadcast,” said Eric Shanks, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Producer, FOX Sports. “We couldn’t be more proud to be at the U.S. Air Force Academy to recognize those who bravely protect our country and its values.”
