The Kansas City Chiefs are on top of the world after winning back-to-back Super Bowls and three in the last five years, but that doesn’t mean they should get complacent. According to Robert Griffin III, to bolster the offense around Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs should go after Baltimore Ravens veteran Odell Beckham Jr. Griffin laid out his case on X on Friday, highlighting OBJ’s 2023 drop stats.

“The @chiefs SHOULD SIGN Odell Beckham Jr.,” Griffin tweeted. “Last year he proved he is STILL DYNAMIC after being 8th in the NFL averaging 16.1 yards per catch. The @Chiefs struggled with drops last year, but @obj had the lowest drop rate of his career with 1 drop on 64 targets (1.6%). Chief him.”

One of the biggest concerns with getting Beckham to the Chiefs would be his potential price tag. However, Griffin seems to have some inside information because when a fan pointed out that Kansas City would have to shell out upwards of $15 million, the former Heisman Trophy winner tweeted, “They won’t have to.”

Beckham finishes second in receiving for Baltimore

When he joined the Ravens, Beckham inked for one year and $15 million. However, they paid out $13.835 million as a signing bonus and included four void years to spread out the hit. His 2024 salary cap charge is $3,977,000.

If Kansas City did find a way to sign Beckham for the 2024 season, the star power on the team and in the VIP suites would be off the charts. Patrick Mahomes has become a larger-than-life figure and Travis Kelce had to move houses this season at the start of his relationship with Taylor Swift. And now, OBJ is confirmed to be exclusively dating Kim Kardashian, one of the wealthiest women and well-known figures in American culture.

In 2023, Beckham got back over the 500-yard mark for the first time in three seasons. He played 14 regular season games for the Ravens, tallying 35 catches with three touchdowns. In two postseason games, the former Giants star added four receptions for 34 yards, two catches went for first downs. The 2024 season will be his 11th in the league. He didn’t play in 2022 while rehabbing from his 2021 ACL tear.
