Roger Goodell addresses Taylor Swift potentially buying an NFL team

Tom Brady was approved to become an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, being one of a few to earn a share in the franchise. This has led to questions about other high-profile people potentially having a stake in teams moving forward. On Tuesday, there was a specific question about Taylor Swift.
With how involved Swift has been with the Kansas City Chiefs in recent times, a reporter asked Roger Goodell if there was an avenue for her to buy a piece of the team. Laughter did ensue from Goodell before admitting if Swift wanted to, she probably had the resources to do as such.
“If she’s interested, I think she has the ability to do it,” Goodell said via Albert Breer.
Back in June 2024, Forbes estimated Swift was worth around $1.3 billion due to her success in the music industry. Her latest venture has been the Eras Tour which became one of the biggest talking points in the entertainment industry, beginning in March 2024 and is still ongoing — not ending until early December 2024.

Based on her valuation, Swift might not be able to solely own an NFL franchise. The Washington Commanders were the team most recently sold, going to Josh Harris and the Harris-Blitzer group for $6.05 billion. Swift might be able to get some minority ownership, though, if she really wanted to.
Of course, Kansas City is the team Swift is the most directly linked with at the moment as she is dating tight end Travis Kelce.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Forbes valued the Chiefs at $4.85 billion and is actually on the lower end of the NFL. It ranks No. 24 among teams in the league, one that is currently owned by Clark Hunt. However, Forbes does say the valuation is up 13% compared to the previous year as Kansas City is fresh off a Super Bowl championship with Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and Kelce leading the way.
