Roger Penske spotted at Milwaukee Mile fuels IndyCar speculation
When you see The Captain out and around, you take notice. Roger Penske was at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday morning fueling speculation. Speculation about what exactly? Well, a return of the IndyCar Series to the track that once held numerous races in the series, of course. Penske might have some ideas brewing.
Since NASCAR returned to North Wilkesboro, it has people thinking about which tracks these big series can return to in the future. While Milwaukee is still in use for late-model races and a return in the Truck Series this season, IndyCar gave up on the track in 2015.
Before the ASA STARS National Tour race today, Roger Penske attended the drivers meeting. Penske was already at Road America just 65 miles away for IndyCar this weekend. So, he went and checkered out what the Mile had going on.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Bob Sargent, head of Track Enterprises spoke with Penske. Sargent said it was “an opportunity to sit down at a table and talk about possibilities and options.”
“I think he [Penske] and a lot of people still feel good about this facility, not only the history but the condition it’s in now,” Sargent said.
As talks continue for Roger Penske and the Milwaukee Mile, there is hope that something can be done. It seems the Milwaukee Mile is ready for another national series to return.

‘One more step’ for Roger Penske, IndyCar to return to Milwaukee Mile
With the visit that The Captain paid to Milwaukee, there is some optimism it seems. Penske is a very busy guy. He not only has his hands in NASCAR and IndyCar but also in endurance racing. He was at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and stayed up for most of the race.
Even at 86 years old, Roger Penske is out here making deals. Sargent seems to have most things figured out. Now, there is just a little more work to be done before IndyCar can return to the track.
“So I think we’re ready to move forward in our progress and our plans, and the State of Wisconsin and the Fair Board people have been great to work with. I think there’s just one more step, and I’ve got to talk to Roger, and again we’re collaborating and discussing all the possibilities.”
With Roger Penske paying a visit to the track, it looks like things are already in motion. Don’t be surprised when Wisconsin has another race on the schedule.
