Rory McIlroy’s Northern Ireland golf club members have crazy celebration for Masters win

Rory McIlroy won the 2025 Masters on Sunday, and the Holywood Golf Club in Northern Ireland had a huge celebration. A video was released that showed the members of McIlroy’s home club erupting after McIlroy scored a birdie on the playoff hole to win his first Masters and complete the career Grand Slam.
McIlroy is one of the just six golfers to complete the career Grand Slam. The other five are Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.
“This is my 17th time here, and I started to wonder if it would ever be my time,” McIlroy said after winning the Masters, per ESPN. “I think the last 10 years coming here with the burden of the Grand Slam on my shoulders and trying to achieve that, yeah, I’m sort of wondering what we’re all going to talk about going into next year’s Masters.”
McIlroy added, “I would say it was 14 years in the making, from going out with a four-shot lead in 2011, feeling like I could have gotten it done there. Yeah, there was a lot of pent-up emotion that just came out on that 18th green. A moment like that makes all the years and all the close calls worth it.”

Holywood Golf Club shows love to Rory McIlroy after Masters win
After Rory McIlroy won the title, members of Holywood Golf Club expressed how much they were proud of their hometown hero. “It was so well deserved and we’re all just so proud, we’re just so made up for him,” Paula Denvir said, per rhyjournal.com. “He just deserved this so much. There were tears of joy all over the place tonight and there was stunned silence too. Everybody is in bits. We’re so delighted for him. It was brilliant. I’d every confidence in him, I don’t know what it was about this year, I just thought ‘he’ll do this, this was it’. And I’m really glad he proved me right. I’m so delighted.
She continued, “For Holywood this is unbelievable. He’s always been there, he’s always been an ambassador, he’s always been a supporter of the club. He has supported everything, he’s supported charities, my charity last year – The Friends of the Cancer Centre. He’s just an unbelievable ambassador for everywhere – for Holywood, for Northern Ireland, for Ireland, just across the board.”
