Ross Chastain, Shane van Gisbergen will split nine Xfinity Series races for JR Motorsports
How about this? Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen have inked deals with JR Motorsports for the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. Chastain and SVG will race the No. 9 car nine times total with Chastain taking the slight majority of the races.
We have seen Ross Chastain compete for DGM Racing and other small teams in the Xfinity Series. To put him in a JR Motorsports car will make him a real threat to win the races he enters. As for SVG, what more do you have to say? JRM equipment plus his road course prowess equals a win or four this season.
Trackhouse Racing and JR Motorsports continue to deepen their ties together. Connor Zilisch, a Trackhouse development driver, is racing full-time for JRM in the 2025 Xfinity Series season.
Chastain and SVG in this No. 9 car is going to be so much fun. The Melon Man will race at COTA, Darlington, Nashville, Dover, and Iowa this season for JRM. SVG will suit up at Mexico City, Chicago, Sonoma, and Watkins Glen.
Shane van Gisbergen getting more seat time at Mexico City is going to be almost cheating. He is so good on the road and street courses and with, more or less, a new track for this Cup Series field, the extra Xfinity Series laps will be valuable.
As for Ross Chastain, he’s going to be competitive at each of these races. He should qualify very well and really challenge what will be an incredibly talented Xfinity Series on the full-time side of things.

Ross Chastain looking to have big year in 2025
With the addition of Shane van Gisbergen, the pressure is on for Ross Chastain. SVG has the potential to win multiple road course races a season. His development on ovals could eventually make him a yearly playoff participant and deep run threat.
Chastain has done well to win races the last few years. However, he has to be more consistent. There were many times in 2023 and 2024 where it was easy to forget he was in the series. He would disappear for races at a time.
There was something about Chastain in 2022 that was special. He had a healthy disregard for what others thought of him. It led to aggressive moves on the track and memorable moments such as the Hail Melon. Could he get back to that in 2025?
Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen are going to be awesome in that JR Motorsports No. 9. NASCAR fans are going to have a lot of fun seeing them out on the track next year no matter the series.
