Ross Chastain spins Kyle Busch out on last lap of Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma
On the last lap of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma, Kyle Busch was sent spinning around by Ross Chastain. Chastain claims one thing, but the video from NASCAR might show something else entirely.
When Ross Chastain gets into another driver it is always pointed out as his fault. It was so common that it was dubbed being “Chastain’d.” It’s what happens when the No. 1 car doors you out of nowhere.
Chastain and Busch were racing for a top-5 finishing spot. Chastain overdrove a corner and locked up his brakes, Busch went off the track.
Ross Chastain and Kyle Busch haven’t gotten into it too many times. However, it does feel like this one might carry over to next week. Busch has had a lot of rough finishes this season, and will not be happy to see another top-5 finish slip from his hands.
If Chastain wanted to get rowdy, then he got Rowdy. Going to Iowa next week, the short track racing could bring out even more drama. Then again, Busch is picking up rivalries almost every weekend now.

Ross Chastain needed a top-5 finish
Speaking of rough seasons, Ross Chastain ain’t doing too hot in 2024 either. In fact, this was the first top-5 finish for Chastain since Las Vegas in week three of the season. Only his fourth top-10 finish as well.
Good news for Chastain, he only has a single DNF. So, he has picked up points at every race more or less. It has kept him afloat, but without a win, his spot in the playoffs cannot be guaranteed.
Honestly, this was bound to happen with these two drivers both needing a top-5 result. They were desperate, and when Chastain gets desperate, he gets aggressive. That last move on Busch was the definition of aggressive.
Like he usually does, Ross Chastain will probably pay for this at some point. Or he might just get away with it without any issues. Kyle Busch will be the one to decide whether or not he gets revenge and if I was Chastain, that would make me nervous.
