The past few seasons for Russell Wilson haven’t gone as planned with his future in the NFL now in question. Still, while that may be the case, he says that he is as devoted as ever to have a great ending to his career somewhere.

Wilson recently spoke with Brandon Marshall in an exclusive interview on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast. In response to a question about what’s next for him moving forward, he made it known that whatever it is is going to get a dedicated version of him after what the last few years have been like.

“I’ve got more fire than ever honestly, especially over the past two years of what I’ve gone through,” said Wilson.

At the moment, the question is who Wilson will be playing that future for.

His two seasons as a Bronco could be it for his time with the franchise after Seattle traded him there following a decade as a Seahawk. Now, with the expectation being that the two sides will separate, Wilson wants to find a home that’ll put their trust in him, even if that means a return to Denver.

“I hope it’s in Denver. I hope I get to finish there,” said Wilson. “I committed there, I wanted to be there. I want to be there.”

“I love the city and everything else but you also want to be in a place that wants you too,” said Wilson.

However, regardless of where he lands this offseason, Wilson’s one and only focus is on winning again. He has had a losing record in each of the past three seasons and didn’t make the playoffs in either year with Denver.

At 35 years old, Wilson solely wants to win at the highest level again. That includes an expectation of two more Super Bowl victories to add to his one over his final few seasons.

“For me? It’s about winning,” said Wilson. “Over the next five years, I want to win two. I want to feel the chill of that trophy again.”

“The thing that I want to do is win, man,” Wilson said. “That’s all I care about.”

Wilson has gone 11-19 as the Bronco’s starting quarterback. He posted some career-worst statistics in those 30 games, specifically in 2022. He then eventually found himself on the sidelines amidst a controversial handling of him by the team.

There’s currently no telling where Wilson could be playing his 13th professional season next year. Wherever he does land, though, is apparently getting an even more committed version of Wilson that’s wanting to correct the course that his final years are currently on.
