For the first time this season, Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) quarterback Russell Wilson is off the inactives list. Wilson will suit up for Sunday’s Week 6 road contest against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) and serve as the backup to Justin Fields.

Wilson had been sidelined for the first five games, nursing a calf injury he initially sustained on the eve of training camp. He reaggravated the injury days before the season opener and had been a limited participant in practice since. Wilson was a full participant in practice this week, and believes he’ll have no problem getting up to speed.

“I’ve been getting all the reps,” Wilson said Thursday. “It’s not like I haven’t been out there. I’ve gotten a lot of reps overall this time and everything else and I feel really confident with our guys, who we are. You guys saw some of the plays guys are making, just a lot of good things and so I feel confident about that, and I’m not worried about that part.”

Despite Pittsburgh dropping its last two games, Fields has largely been impressive in place of Wilson and retains the starting job against Las Vegas. Fields has thrown for 961 yards, five touchdowns and one interception on 67.6% passing.

The Steelers’ pass rush will be shorthanded Sunday. Alex Highsmith (groin) is out for his third consecutive game while Nick Herbig is out with a hamstring issue.
