Russell Wilson, Roman Wilson updates featured on Friday Steelers injury report before Falcons game
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is questionable entering the weekend of the season opener against Atlanta on Sunday, per the Steelers’ Friday injury report. Wilson has been a limited practice participant with a calf injury.
Along with the quarterback, another Wilson on the Steelers offense will not play: Rookie wideout Roman Wilson. The Michigan draftee has also been limited with an ankle injury, but is being held out.
Russell Wilson also said earlier in the week he intends to do all he can to try and play.
“The biggest thing is you hate these nagging things. I’ve been feeling great the past few weeks. I’ve been feeling really good,” Wilson said, via Mike DeFabo of The Athletic. “Just kind of felt a little funny yesterday. I think the most important thing is just getting prepared to win. I think that’s our focus right now, doing whatever we can, myself included, and obviously getting ready to rock and roll, and I’ll be ready to go.
“If I can go, I’m going to go and try to do everything I can to help us win. That’s how I think about it. And if not, I’m going to do everything I can to help us win that way, too. So, I’m going to do everything I can, as you guys know, to be ready to rock.”
Two other Steelers are out after not practicing all week: Guard Isaac Seumalo (pec) and defensive tackle Logan Lee (calf).

Elsewhere on the injury report, there’s good news for Pittsburgh. Running back Jaylen Warren was a full participant on Thursday and Friday after being limited to start the week. Rookie tackle Troy Fautanu followed the same arc and carries no designation for the opener. Tight end Darnell Washington also went from not practicing on Thursday with a knee issue to no designation and a full participant on Friday.
For Atlanta, only cornerback Antonio Hamilton is out as he went from limited to not practicing on Friday with a groin injury. Any other Falcons not practicing, or practicing in a limited capacity, were doing so for rest.
No players are questionable for the Falcons and tight end Kyle Pitts, along with linebacker Nate Landman, were both full participants on Friday after being limited earlier in the week.
