Russell Wilson has signed with an NFL team for the 2025 season. He is set to sign a one-year deal with the New York Giants worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Wilson spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, signing a one-year contract with the team in March 2024. He played in 11 games last year and completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions with a 95.6 rating and 6-5 record. He missed the first six games of the season due to an injured calf. Justin Fields was the starting QB for the Steelers’ first six games and is now with the New York Jets.

In February, Steelers general manager Omar Khan said they are keeping their options open since Wilson and Fields were about to become free agents. “Ideally, I think you like to sign one of the guys that we had last year,” Khan stated. “But the reality is, they’re both free agents. So, until we get one of those guys under contract, all options are on the table.”

Russell Wilson wanted to play for the Steelers in 2025

Russell Wilson appeared on The Pat McAfee Show in January and said he wanted to remain in Pittsburgh. “Obviously, this year was an exciting year in a lot of ways,” Wilson said on the show. “It was tough at the end, obviously. We didn’t get it done, but I’ve got so much more in me, man. I’m excited. My goal is to be with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a long time, hopefully finish my career there, God willing. I’m just trusting God and the process.”

Wilson also revealed he and the team started contract negotiations. “Yes, we have been starting to talk a little bit,” Wilson said. “Obviously, we’ve had our meetings and everything else. We’re kinda just getting into it. I think that it’s an exciting time, obviously, to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and the opportunity of what we can do. I think at the same time, Omar (Khan) and coach Tomlin, I really love those guys, and who they are, and the team that we can put together.”

Wilson began his NFL career in 2012 when the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the third round of the draft. He spent 10 seasons in Seattle before spending two years with the Denver Broncos. In his 13 NFL seasons, Wilson has been named to the Pro Bowl 10 times, selected to the All-Pro Second Team in 2019 and led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl win during the 2013 season.
