Ryan Preece, Chase Briscoe will run 'Talladega Nights' schemes for playoff race
Folks, the people at Stewart-Haas Racing are not playing around this NASCAR weekend. They’re bringing Talladega Nights to life on Sunday. Ryan Preece and Chase Briscoe are going to be the new Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr. Wonder Bread and Old Spice, hitting the track together.
Almost as soon as the playoff race at Texas was over, Stewart-Haas Racing began teasing things. Taking a video of a drawer in one of the haulers, SHR showed off the upcoming sponsors. The drawer was marked “Talladega” and it was filled with goodies.
In the video, you could see a bowling ball (Go Bowling! for Aric Almirola). Then there is a can of Busch Light (Kevin Harvick). Also in the video, a loaf of Wonder Bread (Preece), a stick of Old Spice deodorant (Briscoe), and a Monster Energy drink (Riley Herbst).
Then, they confirmed the news. Talladega Nights in real life.
“Preece and Chase, THAT’S OUR NICKNAME!
This entire announcement has been fantastic. It has been a long time coming for NASCAR to fully embrace the beauty that is Talladega Nights. You can understand how drivers might have felt about the movie and how it made them look. Now, it’s part of the lexicon.
The Wonder Bread scheme returns for the first time since 2013 when Kurt Busch brought it to life. The last time Old Spice was in the Cup Series was with Corey LaJoie in 2019, the one with LaJoie’s face on the hood of the car.

‘Talladega Nights’ coming to life
While it has been done in the past, barely, this is the most complete recreation of the two cars from the movie. When you see these cars on the track it’s going to look like you’re watching Ricky and Cal, Shake n’ Bake!
Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chief Revenue Officer, Brian McKinley, is very happy to bring this deal together.
“This is an entertaining promotion that allows us to work with two innovative brands in Wonder Bread and Old Spice where we can stand out together amid a very busy fall sports schedule,” McKinley said in a press release. “Talladega Nights is a cult classic and Wonder Bread and Old Spice were savvy enough to be on board with the movie from the very beginning. For our sport, it’s the gift that keeps on giving, and it’s given Stewart-Haas Racing a great platform to have some fun and engage with our fans.”
I’m gonna need to see a slingshot move for the win or at least at the end of a stage. While I’m sure these drivers will be hoping to bring it home in one piece, the fans will be watching eagerly.
