An absolutely scary moment during the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover as Ryan Sieg escaped from his car after it caught fire. Sieg was just racing when the fire began to engulf the entire car.

Thankfully, Sieg was able to get stop the car, get out, and run from it. He appeared to inhale some fumes as he was waving his arms around to get some fresh air after leaving the vehicle.

You hate to see these fires happen. They can get out of control quickly. It was reminiscent of the fire Jordan Anderson had in 2022.

Ryan Sieg has had a wild last three weeks in the Xfinity Series. At Texas he loses the race by 0.002 seconds. Then, he struggles at Talladega, but thanks to wrecks and other incidents, wins the Dash 4 Cash and puts $100,000 in his pocket.

Now, he’s out of the race before it really began. Soon after Sieg had his fire issues, his teammate Blaine Perkins had a small electrical fire. Perhaps an issue overall with the RSS Racing cars this weekend at Dover.

Sieg and his family-owned race team work hard week in and week out. They need solid finishes on Saturdays to keep the dream going. This season has gone well for Sieg, but this is a major step back for the organization.

The next time Sieg hits the track will be at Darlington. The Xfinity Series will take a week off as the Truck Series and Cup Series go to Kansas. 2024 has been a good season overall for Sieg and his 39 team. He will try to get back on the right path after this weekend.

Ryan Sieg has been impressive in 2024

The season didn’t start off strong for Ryan Sieg. He had back-to-back P22 finishes to start the year. After that, the results started to come. P7 at Las Vegas, P12 at Phoenix, P14 at COTA. It was all capped off with that runner-up finish at Texas in a heartbreaker.

Teams like RSS look for opportunities. When those opportunities present themselves, they have to take advantage as best they can in order to make the most of their day or their season. It’s nice for that team to have won the Dash 4 Cash at Talladega, but with two cars catching fire, that money is burned through at this point.

The Xfinity Series is hard to compete in. It is full of talent and great young drivers. What Sieg has been able to do early in the year has been nothing short of impressive. It feels like this is the last series where these smaller teams can make some noise and upset the big boys and girls out there.

As the BetRivers 200 keeps going, we’re going to see more wrecks and incidents like Ryan Sieg’s. The Monster Mile demands to be fed and he will be given his fair share by the end of the race today.
