Sabrina Ionescu lands cover of NBA 2K24 WNBA edition
The late great Kobe Bryant earned the honor of gracing the cover of NBA2K24. Now, a player that grew a connection with the Bryant family will be joining him as a cover athlete on the game’s WNBA edition.
New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu was announced as the cover athlete for the game’s WNBA edition earlier today. It’s just the latest recognition for the star in the women’s game and the former No. 1 pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft.
Ionescu came out of Oregon three years ago as a player that was known to put up numbers. She has only continued to do that in her time with the Liberty.
In 83 career games with New York, she has averaged 15 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. Over that time, she has posted three triple-doubles, including the only one in league history that took less than three quarters to attain as well as the only one that come in a 30-point scoring outing
Ionescu just recently became a WNBA All-Star for the consecutive season. Afterward, she will then continue to help lead New York in the hunt for a third straight playoff appearance.

Again, Ionescu is fantastic as a player with all-around game and impact. Considering her love and relationship with the Byrant family, that should only make 2K’s decision to put her alongside The Black Mamba as the faces of this year’s video game that much sweeter for Liberty guard.
Bryant featured as cover athlete on NBA 2K24
Kobe Bryant is as iconic as it gets when it comes to the sport of basketball and the NBA. Now, although departed for nearly three and a half years, his legacy is still making an impact today.
2K is making sure of that by continuing his memory with their announcement this morning. In a tweet they shared earlier today, they announced that Bryant would be gracing the covers of this year’s edition of NBA2K with NBA2K24.
Bryant’s career came to an end in 2016 after spending 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.
There’s not a member of the basketball community that doesn’t understand Bryant’s influence or doesn’t desire that he made it past the age of 41, just a little under four years after he hung up his jersey for the final time. Even so, 2K is appreciating his memory in the latest way, especially in a year with a number, ’24, that was so synonymous with Kobe.
