History was made on Monday night in our nation’s capital. One of the most impressive streaks in all of football came to an end as the Baltimore Ravens saw their 24-game winning streak in the preseason come to an end. The Washington Commanders hit a game-deciding field goal with just seconds remaining.

A fun moment in what can be an otherwise dull preseason across the league.

Not everyone was too impressed with Baltimore’s streak, though. Commanders offensive tackle Sam Cosmi called the record “stupid” and called his shot before the game. Washington was going to wind up on the winning end and boy, was he right.

“I think it’s a stupid record,” Cosmi said. “I mean, who gives a sh*t about preseason games? If we beat it, great. We’re going to beat it. So, there you go.”

To find the last time Baltimore lost a preseason game, you have to go all the way back to 2015. The Atlanta Falcons had the distinct honor of being the last team to hand the Ravens a loss. Yes, the NFL changed the number of matchups from four to three. Still, an eight-year streak is quite an impressive one. And you just know head coach John Harbaugh was proud of rattling off wins.

Streaks are meant to be broken but rarely are people able to call their shots and wind up being correct. Cosmi was never impressed with Baltimore’s preseason hype and backed his words up. A rare case of pregame trash-talking aging incredibly well.

Washington Commanders enjoy fun night at Fed Ex Field

Even without a streak on the line, Fed Ex Field was bumping for a preseason game. Monday marked the first Commanders home game since former Dan Snyder sold the team. Josh Harris has since bought the time, potentially signifying a new era for the franchise — something the fans desperately wanted.

An exciting preseason can do a lot for a team. One more game will take place at Fed Ex field as well, with the Cincinnati Bengals coming to town on Aug. 26.

All of the energy will likely blow into the regular season as well, with fans wanting to see how Washington can perform. The season opener will occur at home as the Arizona Cardinals travel across the country. Commadners fans are going to be ready to go, hoping to get some winning football back to their team.
