Sam Howell took two losses over the weekend, with the Washington Commanders and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

While Howell couldn’t find a way to defeat the New York Giants on Sunday, he watched on Saturday as his Tar Heels fell to the Clemson Tigers. Evidently, the quarterback made a bet on the game, and now he’s paying for his transgressions.

Check out the result of North Carolina’s loss below, as Howell was forced to wear a Clemson hoodie to his press conference on Tuesday as a result.

Alas, that adds insult to injury for Howell after a tough weekend. Many thought the Commanders were on their way back into the NFC playoff picture, but the Giants put the kibosh on that dream.

New York completed their sweep of Howell and the Commanders by forcing six turnovers on the afternoon, including a game-sealing pick-six by former Clemson star Isaiah Simmons. And then Howell had to wear a Tigers sweatshirt. Oof.

Nevertheless, Howell’s had a tremendous season for Washington, racking up the passing numbers over the course of the year. Still, the Commanders have to feel disappointed with their 4-7 record, especially considering the play they’ve gotten from their quarterback, and the fact that they started the season 2-0.

Additionally, Howell’s Tar Heels are in a similar boat. They had dreams of making it to the College Football Playoff, but they’ve suffered three losses throughout the season, including last weekend’s to Clemson.

Still, North Carolina can end their season strong. They’re playing NC State this weekend, a huge rivalry showdown that could swing the feelings on their season either way.

Regardless, we’re hoping Sam Howell doesn’t make any more bets. If he shows up to a press conference in an NC State hoodie next weekend if North Carolina falters, we’ll know he hasn’t learned his lesson.
