Sam Hunt Racing to honor Sherry Pollex with 'Sherry Strong' paint scheme at Charlotte
The Xfinity Series has this week off, but Sam Hunt Racing and Connor Mosack couldn’t wait to unveil their Sherry Pollex scheme. Partnering with “Sherry Strong,” the NASCAR team and driver will honor the late advocate and philanthropist.
Sherry Pollex died earlier this month at the age of 44 after a battle with ovarian cancer. Sam Hunt Racing has a great tie-in with Pollex on a personal level. Fuz Burgdoff, Pollex’s brother-in-law works for the Xfinity Series organization. He will also be the car chief for this weekend.
A great way to honor the life and legacy of someone who inspired so many.
Sherry Pollex made a massive difference in countless lives. Not just through her charitable work regarding children’s and ovarian cancer, but also through her own public battle. She was a fixture in the garage and will be missed by many in the industry.
NASCAR released a statement on Pollex after the news of her death went public. It goes to show the impact she had on the sport without ever putting on a firesuit and helmet, or turning a wrench.
“NASCAR is saddened to learn of the passing of Sherry Pollex, whose fight against cancer and determination to help others through the Sherry Strong Foundation was an inspiration to all who knew her. NASCAR and the NASCAR Foundation’s thoughts and prayers are with Sherry’s family and friends.”

Sherry Pollex honored by NASCAR at Texas
Last weekend, every car that hit the track in Texas was adorned with a Sherry Pollex ribbon. It was a great show of support for her family and loved ones. It was also quite the honor for Pollex herself. The Sam Hunt Racing car will be another great tribute to her life.
The NASCAR broadcast even took a moment to remember Pollex ahead of the race. It was an emotional prerace ceremony as the Cup Series raced for the first time since her passing.
The Xfinity Series is going to hit the track at the Charlotte Roval. This might be the last time we see the Roval on the schedule for a little while. If that is true, I’m sure lots of fans will be happy to see Charlotte get a second oval race, or potentially another track replacing the Roval.
Xfinity Series Playoffs continue at Charlotte next week. For now, it is the Truck Series and Cup Series, battling it out on the track that’s always been too fast, Talladega. Should be a fun weekend.
