Kyle Busch announced Monday that for the first time ever, he will race head-to-head against his 9-year-old son Brexton. The “Battle of the Busch’s” will take place on Wednesday at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina. The race is available to watch on DirtVision.

Samantha Busch — husband to Kyle and mother to Brexton — will surely be watching attentively. In fact, it might be happening even sooner than she thought.

“That they do! [grow up so fast]” she wrote on X. “Can’t believe this is already happening!”

Kyle Busch heavily teased the announcement. Following Sunday’s Straight Talk Wireless at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Busch went straight to X.

“News at 18:51 on Monday,” Busch posted

Brexton has a long way to go to catch up to his dad, a two-time Cup Series champion and surefire NASCAR Hall of Famer. He is, however, off to a fantastic start. Brexton scored the biggest win of his career in January, taking the checkered flag in the Junior Sprint A-Main at the 2025 Tulsa Shootout, capturing his first Golden Driller trophy. He started first in the 20-lap race and led the entire way.

Busch and Samantha celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in Tulsa. They were thrilled watching their son win the coveted Golden Driller.

“I was crying, I’m so proud,” Samantha said. “He’s worked at this, he was so upset last year. Literally every race he went to this year, he was like, ‘I’m doing it for Tulsa. I’m doing it for the Driller.’ And he did it. He’s so happy.”

Now, Brexton has perhaps his biggest test yet going up against his dad. If Brexton bests Busch, his stock will only rise. Even now, the motorsports world is taking notice, and Busch is enjoying being there for his journey.

“He takes it all in, he sees what I do every Sunday,” Busch said last month. “He sees the interviews and stuff that I do and the upset moments too when I’ve got some frustrating races and stuff, and he gets frustrated too. Just working through all that with him at a younger age will help him into the future.

“… He does a good job, and we obviously work with him. He’s got some very corporate sponsors that are on board with him right now that have helped him along his way and through his journey. Many of those that hopefully we keep on board for the foreseeable future.”
