San Francisco 49ers' betting odds to land Kirk Cousins see massive shift
What does the money tell us about Kirk Cousins? It’s suggesting that the 49ers may have interest in Kirk Cousins.
So what in the name of Brock Purdy is this about? According to DraftKings Sportsbook, there has been some “wild next team odds movement” towards this happening.
But before fans of Purdy, the 49ers, even the Vikings freak out, San Fran still is a long shot for Cousins. Purdy and the 49ers came within an overtime touchdown from beating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. There has been no talk of the 49ers ditching Purdy, who just finished his second season. Purdy, the former Iowa State standout, was the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Of course, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan worked with Cousins when both were at Washington.
The oddsmakers at DraftKing SportsBook list the San Fran odds at signing Cousins at +1800. The 49ers opened at +15000. There is a caveat to all this betting. In order to wager, you must live in West Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Michigan, Illinois, Oregon, Wyoming, Arizona, Louisiana, Maryland and Ontario.
What other teams are showing up in the odds for Cousins? Well, every NFL team that needs a quarterback. Coincidentally, most are shopping for quarterbacks in the NFL Draft. The Patriots are +800, the Steelers and Raiders are +1000.
The Commanders and Titans are +2000, while the Broncos are +2200.
The money thinks Kirk Cousins sticks with Vikings
Of course, the Vikings are the favorite to land Cousins. So the money suggests the 35-year-old Cousins, with his surgically-repaired Achilles, stays home. He becomes a free agent, March 13, but sides are negotiating.
Cousins says that he wants to stay in Minnesota. However, there is also this nugget. Maybe he signs with the Falcons. His wife’s family lives near Atlanta.

Zach Klein, who is with WBS in Atlanta, talked about Cousins maybe signing with the Falcons this week on the “Dukes & Bell‘ show.
“Everybody I’ve talked to says the logical thing is for them … they want to go a veteran move,“ Klein said. “All eyes, all arrows, everything points toward Kirk Cousins. Arthur Blank has basically told his front office that. ‘Do what you’ve got to do, pay what you’ve got to pay, get it done.’ “
Blank is the team owner. Klein continued “so, everybody I’ve talked to – agents, other coaches and scouts, guys around the league – that’s the feeling that they are saying. What they are hearing is that the Falcons will put all their attention on Kirk Cousins moving forward. Now, (Falcons general manager) Terry (Fontenot) is not saying that and (coach) Raheem (Morris) is not saying that, but that’s what guys around the league are talking about.”
Last week, Sports Illustrated reported that the Vikings don’t want to fully guarantee Cousins’ contract, which is said to be a deal breaker. So maybe that got bettors a bit itchy, with money moving on the 49ers and other teams.
