Report: San Francisco 49ers signing Terrace Marshall to practice squad
The San Francisco 49ers have signed wideout Terrace Marshall to their practice squad, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Marshall’s move comes a day after the former second-round draft choice was cut by the Carolina Panthers.
The former LSU wide receiver previously spent his first three seasons in the league with the Panthers. During that time he caught 64 passes for 767 yards and one touchdowns across 36 games.
Last season, Marshall appeared in nine games for Carolina. He caught 19 passes on 33 targets for 139 yards. He notably caught nine passes for 56 yards during a 21-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Mashall was able to showcase his skills for Carolina during their preseason schedule, where he tallied five catches for 53 yards and a score. The Panthers save $1.44 million by moving on from Marshall.
He’ll be looking to make a team which is led on its wide receiving corps by Brandon Aiyuk — potentially. The Pro Bowl wideout reportedly requested a trade from the team earlier this offseason, but recent reports have indicated that the 49ers are interested in signing him long-term.
The outcome of the Aiyuk trade saga is ongoing, and while he’s expected to hit the practice field soon — his uncertain future gives someone like Marshall the chance to stand out and fight for extra minutes, for now.

With the 49ers new-found interest in keeping Aiyuk around in San Francisco, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been the team to watch out for regarding a treade. Over the weekend, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said the Steelers are in a position to give Aiyuk the contract he wants.
“Here’s where it stands, after talking to several sources informed of this situation,” he said on The Insiders last Tuesday. “The 49ers and the Steelers do, in fact, have a deal to trade Brandon Aiyuk from the 49ers to the Steelers. And in any other situation – literally – that would be major news. Except for this situation. There are many other parts of this.
By the way, I should also mention the Steelers are also in a very good place for the Brandon Aiyuk contract extension if he got traded to the Steelers. And again, that deal is in place. It just takes the 49ers to say, ‘Yes, we are doing it,’ which they have not done. I want to repeat, the 49ers have not done [that] yet.”
Aiyuk was selected by the 49ers No. 25 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was named to the All-Pro Second Team last year after catching 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. Before the 2023 season, the 49ers picked up Aiyuk’s fifth-year option of his rookie contract.
