Mississippi State outfielder Dakota Jordan established himself as one of the best players in college baseball the past few years. And he had his dreams of playing in the major leagues come true, when the San Francisco Giants selected him with the No. 116 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He reeled in second-team All-America honors in 2024 from certain publications and third team All-American honors from others.

Jordan didn’t hesitate to show up on the biggest of stages when his team needed him the most this spring/summer. In the Charlottesville Regional in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, he was named to the All-Regional Team. One of the best power hitters in America, Jordan also finished as a 2024 Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist.

In 2024, he led Mississippi State in home runs (20), RBIs (72), hits (85), and slugging percentage (.671). He also finished the year with 161 total bases, substantially more than any other player on the Bulldogs. Jordan was the engine that fueled an impressive season this year for Mississippi State. They finished with a 40-23 overall record and a 17-13 record in the SEC.

Jordan went 20 straight at bats without a hit, but then delivered a big one in crunch time against St. John’s in the Charlottesville Regional. The slugger delivered a walk-off home run against the Red Storm, sending a three-run home run over the wall at Davenport Field. He lifted the Bulldogs to the winner’s bracket and an elimination game against the Virginia Cavaliers.

As a freshman in 2023, Jordan once again flashed his tremendous potential with Mississippi State, blasting 10 home runs, the fourth most on the team. The superstar belted one 474 feet against the ULM Warhawks, launching the ball out of the stadium.
