Jerry Rice calls outs 49ers following Deebo Samuel injury
Former San Fransisco 49ers wide receiver and Hall of Famer Jerry Rice took to social media Sunday following a serious lower-body injury suffered by 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Samuel was handed the ball up the middle during the second quarter of their matchup versus the Bucs when he was tackled awkwardly, holding his left knee in pain afterwards and eventually being carted off of the field.
Rice showed some frustration with the play calling of 49ers’ head coach and offensive play-caller Kyle Shanahan following Samuel’s injury, also referencing previous injuries suffered to quarterbacks Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo via Instagram.
The injury bug has bit the 49ers this season, with Lance fracturing his right ankle in Week 2 and Garoppolo suffering a broken foot just last week against the Miami Dolphins. The Niners still lead their division with an 8-4 record, but hopefully, they can maintain a healthy roster moving and get some speedy recovery from their injured players.

Deebo Samuel carted off field with injury
As Samuel rolled around on the ground grabbing at his leg in obvious pain, replay showed the moment the injury occurred as his ankle and leg were bent awkwardly beneath a tackler as another defender hit his leg from the front during the play.
It was not immediately clear what the extent of the injury was, although it didn’t take long for trainers to bring an injury cart on the field to take Samuel into the locker rooms. As they prepared to take Samuel off the field, several teammates consoled him as the star receiver was visibly upset by the injury.
The play that injured Samuel was a normal one by NFL standards, making the unfortunate accident all the tougher to see as his teammates surrounded him. Samuel was given a handoff on a run to the left before cutting back into the heart of the defense to gain yards. The tackle that resulted immediately caused him some form of pain, as replay showed him drop the football from the feeling.
