Sauce Gardner clears the air surrounding Jewish people comments

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner is setting the record straight on his recent comments about Jewish people. During a live stream this past weekend, Adin Ross (who is Jewish) told Gardner and a group of people he was sold a Tesla Cybertruck because of his ethnicity.

“Imma be honest, like no funny weird s—,” Gardner told Ross, per ESPN. “Y’all run the world. They got so much motion throughout the whole world. …. Y’all gotta see how they be walking in the airport.”

On Tuesday, Gardner went to X to clarify his comments. “I love all people,” he wrote. “While my intentions were positive, I just learned that people use those exact words I shared for hate towards Jewish people. That is not what I am about and I appreciate those who took the time to educate me on that fact.”

Ross responded: “Bro I’m Jewish. You did and said nothing wrong you said Jews run the world in a good way which is true, I said you were fine so ima defend you.”

On Wednesday, Gardner went back on X to write he was not forced to clarify his comments. “We really live in a world where if you clear something up, media outlets try to keep it from dying down and/or blow it up even more lol,” Gardner wrote. “It’s gotten more attention AFTER I cleared it up yesterday which is weird & I wasn’t forced to post anything; it was on my heart to do so.”

Sauce Gardner ready for a big 2024 season

Gardner is becoming one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. After being named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2022, Gardner finished the 2023 season with 57 tackles and 11 passes defended. He was named All-Pro First Team and the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year.

In January, Gardner talked about his expectations for 2024. “I’m going to pride myself on being a leader even more this offseason,” Gardner said, per the Jets’ official website. “I know what it takes to win. This year, I’m not settling. No matter what. I know what it takes to win, that’s what I feel like and I’m going to voice how I feel. We have the talent, we have intelligent coaches. Now we just have to come together and get the job done.”

Gardner also talked about facing Aaron Rodgers when he returned to practice in November after learning his Achilles in September.

“Going against Aaron when he on scout team, you’re like, ‘Man, I wish we had this guy,'” he said. “The throws that he makes, he threw a comeback right on me. They ran seams and he threw a no-look back shoulder only where the receiver could catch it and it’s like dang.”
