Scott Van Pelt to miss ESPN 'Monday Night Football' broadcast after losing voice
Scott Van Pelt is on the injured list this week. On Monday, the popular ESPN personality revealed that he will not be part of the Monday Night Countdown pregame show or SportsCenter.
In a post on X, Van Pelt revealed that he currently has no voice — a pretty important component to hosting a television program. So, he’ll be taken this week off.
“So we played another fun edition of will Scott’s voice quit before the show ends last night,” Van Pelt wrote. “Unfortunately, I woke up to zero voice at all. Just gone. As a result, no trip to Vegas for Monday Night Countdown or SportsCenter.”
Van Pelt also revealed that Monday Night Football play-by-play guy Joe Buck will host a majority of Monday Night Countdown. Approximately 30 minutes before kickoff, Buck will then head up to the press box and his wife, Michelle Beisner-Buck, will take over.
Monday Night Football features a matchup between the Green Bay Packers (2-2) and Las Vegas Raiders (1-3). Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET and the game airs on ABC and ESPN. It’s the final game of Week 5 in the NFL.
Davante Adams expected to play in ‘Monday Night Football’
SVP might be sidelined for Monday Night Countdown, but there is some good news on the injury front. Raiders wide receiver and six-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams is expected to play against his former team this week.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Monday morning that Adams is expected to play. He has been extremely limited in practice since sustaining a shoulder injury last week.

“Raiders WR Davante Adams — listed as questionable because of a shoulder injury — is expected to play tonight against the Packers, per sources,” Pelissero reported. “Adams has barely practiced since suffering the injury last weekend. But he’ll get a chance to face his old team.”
Through the first four games of the season, Adams continues to prove he’s one of the best receivers in the league. He has totaled 397 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions.
Monday marks the first time Adams faces his former team. The receiver suited up for the Packers from 2014-21. Green Bay traded Adams to Las Vegas in the 2022 offseason. It creates a really fun storyline for the Monday night matchup.
Adams is a two-time NFL touchdown receptions leader. If he’s on the field, he’ll give the Green Bay secondary plenty of trouble.
