Following an incident on Friday morning, Scottie Scheffler was arrested and faced multiple charges. Now, however, it’s being reported that those charges will be dropped.

According to Kevin Van Valkenburg, the Jefferson County prosecutors are planning on dropping the charges against the number one golfer in the world next week. As of now, Scottie Scheffler is set to be arraigned on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Scottie Scheffler was arrested on Friday morning ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky. He was, apparently, in a marked PGA car going around an accident where a pedestrian died when there was a miscommunication with traffic police, and an officer reportedly was injured trying to stop his moving vehicle.

Initially, Scheffler was initially charged with assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic.

Scottie Scheffler returned to the course later in the day on Friday. He shot five under par for the day, in an improbable performance given the circumstances. Still, he goes into Sunday at the PGA Championship in a tie for 24th, with a -7 overall. That’s a full eight shots being the leader, Xander Schauffele.

When he released a statement about the incident, Scottie Scheffler described the incident as a misunderstanding.

“First of all, you know my sympathies go out to the family of Mr. Mills,” Scheffler said. “I can’t imagine what they’re going through this morning. You know, one day he’s heading to the golf course to watch a tournament and, you know, a few moments later he’s trying to cross the street and now he’s no longer with us. So, I can’t can’t imagine what they’re going through. My heart, you know, I feel for them. I’m sorry. My situation will get handled. It was just a — it was a chaotic situation and a big, big misunderstanding. I can’t comment on any of the specifics of it. So, I feel like you all are gonna be disappointed but, can’t comment on any specifics, but my situation will be handled. It was just a — just a big misunderstanding.”
