Seahawks QB Geno Smith blasts Giants LB Isaiah Simmons for 'dirty play'
Geno Smith and the Seahawks smashed the Giants, Monday, but the Seattle quarterback still was steaming at a tackle made early in the first half.
So Isaiah Simmons, you’re on Smith’s list.
“A dirty play,” Geno Smith told ESPN. “Dirty play. You guys could see it. It was a dirty play. There’s no place in this sport for that. And, you know, hopefully something happens. But other than that, the grace of God allowed me to come back into this game.”
He added: “I just don’t respect that type of stuff. There’s no need for that type of stuff. It’s a hard-fought game out there. We’re all battling, but there’s no need to take shots at guys running out of bounds on the sideline.”

Geno Smith returns to game, officials tag him for taunting
A play later, Geno Smith needed to be checked by team doctors. He missed two series because of a knee injury, but was able to return at the start of the second half. And once he returned, officials flagged Smith for taunting. Smith and the Seahawks also had scoreboard, knocking off New York, 24-3.
Pete Carroll also took issue with the play.
“Yeah, that looked so dangerous,” Carroll told reporters. “I don’t know why we didn’t see that differently. It just looked so dangerous. All of the effect of a horse-collar tackle happened, with the swing of the body that pulls down the back of the legs, and he got hurt on that play. A penalty wouldn’t have rectified that, but it just looked like such a dangerous play it might have warranted a second look.”

As for Isaiah Simmons, the former first rounder from Clemson, he probably won’t be sitting down with Smith and sharing a meal anytime soon.
Reporters asked Simmons about the play in Giants’ post game. The linebacker insisted he started the tackle of Geno Smith in bounds.
“I really don’t got much to say about it. We playing football,” Simmons said. “He’s mad he got hit? What do most quarterbacks do when they don’t want to get hit? They go down. I don’t really know what else to tell him about that.”
He added: “Yeah, nobody is trying to hurt anybody out there. I want everyone to be great, you know what I mean? Nobody is trying to hurt anybody, so I would hate anyone intentionally trying to hurt me,” Simmons said. “None of that was intended. We’re just trying to play hard and win.”
