The Seattle Seahawks (4-3) have agreed to a trade sending linebacker Jerome Baker and a fourth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans (1-5) in exchange for Ernest Jones IV, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Titans continue their fire sale, as they sent receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) earlier on Wednesday.

Tennessee acquired Jones from the Los Angeles Rams (2-4) in late August after the two sides were unsuccessful in coming to terms on an extension with Jones in the final year of his contract. Jones, 24, broke out in a big way in 2023, tallying 145 tackles (74 solo), 4.5 sacks and six passes defended.

Jones, however, proved to not be a schematic fit in Tennessee’s defense, and gets another fresh start with the Seahawks under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald. In six games with the Titans, Jones recorded 44 tackles (29 tackles), three tackles for loss and two passed defended. Jones has graded out as the No. 71 linebacker in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus.

Ernest Jones, Jerome Baker get fresh starts

Baker, 27, signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Seahawks this past offseason after spending six seasons with the Miami Dolphins (2-4). He started five games in Seattle, logging 30 tackles (17 solo), two tackles for loss, two passed defended and one forced fumble. Baker is PFF‘s No. 70 graded linebacker this season.

Baker joins a Titans defense which has overperformed above expectations this season. Tennessee is allowing just 272.2 yards per game, the fewest amount in the NFL.
