Sean Payton has heated exchange with reporter after blowout loss to Dolphins
Sean Payton has seen better days … a lot better days. The one-time Super Bowl-winning head coach suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in NFL history on Sunday, with the Dolphins humiliating the Broncos 70-20.
Needless to say, Payton wasn’t overly thrilled with the team’s performance on the field. That trickled over into the press conference, where he got into a heated exchange with a reporter.
When a reporter attempted to get Payton’s thoughts on the outcome, the head coach snapped multiple times.
“What’s the question,” he said. “What’s the question?!” When the reporter then asked for how Payton felt about the game, he responded, “I just finished telling you. Next question.”
No head coach is going to be thrilled to speak with reporters after that type of outcome. Clearly, Payton just wanted to get out of the stadium as quickly as possible.
I mean, what can you really say after suffering a 50-point loss?
Dolphins make history in win over Broncos
No Sunday’s game wasn’t much fun to watch in terms of an exciting game. But if you love seeing teams accomplish awesome things, you should’ve enjoyed Sunday’s Broncos-Dolphins game.
Miami became just the fourth team to score 70 points in an NFL game, including the playoffs. It’s the first time a team has scored five rushing and five passing touchdowns in a single game in the Super Bowl era, per ESPN.

It was the highest-scoring game for a single team since 1966.
Tua Tagovailoa completed 23-of-26 passes for 309 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Mike White completed both of his throws for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Raheem Mostert accounted for three rushing scores and added 82 yards on the ground. De’Von Achane rushed for an impressive 203 yards and two touchdowns, averaging more than 11 yards per carry.
It was easily one of the most dominant performances we’ve seen from an NFL team in recent memory.
There was really nothing positive to take away from Sunday’s game from Denver. So, it makes sense that Payton was incredibly frustrated after that performance. To make matters worse, the Broncos sit at 0-3 on the season.
Not all of those decisions were ugly, though. The Broncos lost their season opener to the Raiders 17-16. In Week 2, they dropped a 35-33 contest to the Commanders. This was the first time Payton’s team wasn’t competitive this season.
That probably doesn’t make him feel that much better, though.
