The Seattle Seahawks have signed former LSU cornerback Zy Alexander to an undrafted free-agent deal, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson. The deal includes $249,000 guaranteed, as well as a $15,000 signing bonus.

Alexander went undrafted this week after spending five seasons at the collegiate level. He played three seasons at SE Louisiana before transferring to LSU for the final two. He was a standout defensive back during his time with the Tigers and will hope to make a similar impact on the Seahawks’ defense if given the opportunity.

Overall, Alexander appeared in 19 games for LSU, which included 18 starts. He’d go on to finish his career with the Tigers having amassed 77 tackles, which included 2.5 for loss, and 15 passes defended and four interceptions.

His five-year college totals wrapped at 174 tackles and 13 interceptions, highlighted by a six-pick second season at Southeastern Louisiana in 2021. When he declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in January, Alexander thanked those who allowed him the opportunity to play football for the LSU Tigers.

“I am grateful to God,” Alexander wrote at the time. “Thank you for blessing me with strength, perseverance and the opportunity to pursue this journey. I give all glory to you. To all my coaches, trainers and teammates at both Southeastern and LSU, thank you for continuously pushing me to be the best version of myself, on and off the field. your guidance has shaped me not only as a player but also as a man.

“Growing up in Loreauville, Louisiana, I have always taken pride in being born and raised in The Boot. It has been an honor to represent Louisiana and play for LSU in front of the greatest fans in the world. Last but not least, my family. I would not be here without all the love and support you’ve shown me since the beginning. Thank you for believing in me, and I hope to continue to make you all proud. Shabba, I know you are watching over me every step of the way. This is for you!”

Now, Alexander will get his opportunity to earn a spot on the Seattle Seahawks’ defense. However, he’s not the only defensive back that the franchise drafted this week. In the second round, they drafted safety Nick Emmanwori from South Carolina, but was the only defender besides fifth-round pick Rylie Mills, a DE from Notre Dame.
