Seattle Seahawks sign Jake Bobo to free agent deal

The Seattle Seahawks added an experienced pass catcher to their wide receiver room. Following the conclusion of the draft, UCLA wide receiver Jake Bobo has signed with the Seahawks, per On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Bobo was a three-star recruit out of Belmont Hill School in Maryland, where he was ranked the No. 1,243 overall player and No. 201 wide receiver in the 2018 class according to On3’s Industry Ranking. He chose to attend Duke out of high school, spending four seasons with the Blue Devils before transferring to UCLA in 2022.

During his four seasons at Duke, Bobo appeared in 43 games and made 24 starts, hauling in 126 receptions for 1,441 yards and three touchdowns. But when he made the move to the west coast, he took his game to another level for the Bruins.

Bobo led UCLA in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns in 2022. He finished the season with 57 catches, a career-high 817 yards, and after just three career touchdown would find the end zone seven times in his lone season in Los Angeles.

He played some of his best football against ranked opponents last year, catching two touchdowns apiece in consecutive wins over No. 15 Washington and No. 11 Utah. He has a season-high 142 yards versus the Huskies, which he followed two weeks later with a season-high eight catches versus No. 10 Oregon along with 101 yards and a touchdown grab.

Bobo was named honorable mention All-Pac-12 by the league’s coaches and second-team all-conference by Pro Football Focus in 2022, along with a multitude of national and conference academic awards.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Jake Bobo

Bobo was an underrated high school prospect, and the same applies to him as an NFL prospect. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound wideout comes from a family of athletes, getting it done in the passing game as a catcher and the run game as a blocker. NFL.com‘s Lance Zierlein projected Bobo as a priority free agent prior to this year’s draft and broke him down as a prospect.

“Bobo is a big slot receiver with below-average speed and agility to separate from coverage. His route running is very patchy, but he’s fairly tough and competitive when catching around traffic. He has decent hands but a relatively average catch radius. He has some potential as a run blocker in space and might be better suited to add weight and rebrand as a pass-catching tight end, Zierlein said.
