SEC Championship odds: FanDuel releases line on potential Texas vs. Georgia matchup
There’s plenty on the line in the SEC this weekend when Texas and Texas A&M renew their storied rivalry. The winner gets a spot in the conference championship, and FanDuel has released a line on a potential matchup between the Longhorns and Georgia in Atlanta.
Georgia would be a 1.5-point favorite over Texas in the SEC Championship, according to FanDuel’s hypothetical odds. The over-under would also be 52.5.
That matchup would be a rematch of one of the biggest games of the 2024 season. Georgia and Texas previously squared off at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Week 8, with the Bulldogs coming away with the 30-15 victory over the then-No. 1-ranked Longhorns.
In that game, Texas struggled mightily in the first half, trailing 23-0 as Steve Sarkisian benched Quinn Ewers for Arch Manning at one point. Ewers later returned in the second half and the Longhorns scored 15 points in the third quarter to make things interesting. However, UGA rallied once again in the fourth quarter to pull away and get an important road victory.
Georgia secured its spot in the SEC Championship amid a chaos-filled Week 13 across the SEC. The Bulldogs are now awaiting their opponent – the winner of the Lone Star Showdown between Texas and Texas A&M. The rivalry is making its return now that the Longhorns and Aggies are in the same conference once again, and the stakes are even higher with an SEC Championship appearance on the line, as well.

Sarkisian will get his first taste of the rivalry with Texas A&M, and he expressed his excitement for the game’s return. He knows how much it means to the state as a whole, which makes it even more special.
“I think it’s so cool that we’re playing this game again,” Sarkisian said. “But the key to the drill, as I just told the team, it’s like, okay, we’re all excited. We all want to win next week. What are we doing today? Right now, when I get done speaking, to prepare for that? Because I think preparation is what leads to a positive performance.
“I think it’s great for college football, that this game with us and them is going to matter on a grander scale than just what’s happening in the state of Texas. But I also know how much it means to every household in the state of Texas. So it’s pretty cool to be part of. I’m really excited.”
