The first touchdown of Super Bowl LIX was scored by a former SEC player in Jalen Hurts, who played at both Alabama and Oklahoma. But when the SEC shouted out Hurts in a tweet along with a clip of the play on its X account, it tagged only the Crimson Tide football account.

Perhaps they just forgot to include OU with the Sooners being so new to the conference, only playing their first season this past year. But either many people calling them out, and you can view it below.

Hurts made the score following a 27-yard connection with Jahan Dotson that put the Eagles at the 1-yard line. He got into the end zone the very next play as Philadelphia implemented the famous “tush push.”

Prior to his NFL career, Hurts played the first three seasons of college at Alabama before transferring to Norman for his final year in 2019. It should be noted that the Sooners were still a part of the Big 12 then, so perhaps the SEC doesn’t consider that year to count for him playing in the league.

Either way, that ended up being the best season of his college career as he threw for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns to only eight interceptions. He finished second in the Heisman voting and led OU to a College Football Playoff appearance.

Kirk Herbstreit reacts to Jalen Hurts, Eagles Super Bowl LIX win: ‘They should make a movie about him one day’

Kirk Herbstreit believes the Jalen Hurts story deserves to be made into a motion picture one day. The ESPN analyst has been watching Hurts since college and saw him win his first Super Bowl on Sunday, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a dominant 40-22 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The quarterback finished the game with 221 yards passing and two touchdowns to one interception through the air as well as another 72 yards rushing and an additional touchdown on the ground. He was named Super Bowl MVP as a result. Herbstreit took to X after the game with a suggestion to Hollywood directors.

“They should make a movie one day about Jalen Hurts career,” Herbstreit wrote. “Guy is 1st class and a true inspiration for so many! Congrats @Eagles.”
