Nicholas Petit-Frere turned into one of the best offensive linemen in the Big Ten over the past few years at Ohio State, and now the former Buckeyes star has been selected by the Tennessee Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans selected Petit-Frere in the third round.

Petit-Frere was a three-year starter at Ohio State, anchoring the offensive line since the 2019 season. He became the Buckeyes’ starting right tackle ahead of the 2020 season, and he held down that position for the remainder of his collegiate career.

In 2020, Petit-Frere was named a Second Team All-Big Ten selection. This past season, he was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection at right tackle. Now, Petit-Frere has the potential to turn into a starting tackle at the NFL level after being selected in the draft.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Nicholas Petit-Frere

Ahead of the draft, NFL analyst Lance Zierlein broke down the game of Petit-Frere. When looking at the former Ohio State offensive lineman, Zierlein sees a player with a ton of potential that might need time to truly continue develop the rest of his skills. Zierlein gave Petit-Frere a NFL comparison of Austin Jackson, who is a starting tackle for the Miami Dolphins.

“Talented, athletic left tackle prospect who needs more time to develop before he’s ready for next-level edge attacks,” Zierlein said. “Petit-Frere possesses clutch strength and mirror quickness in pass pro but is soft on his edges, which will be identified and attacked until his play strength and hand-fighting improve.

“His inability to stalemate stronger players with consistency is a real concern in any scheme. He has plus play traits at a high-priority position but erratic reps against Michigan’s power and Penn State’s quickness generate a “buyer beware” label on a high-floor, low-ceiling left tackle with Day 2 value.”
