No matter what the exact color of the leather is, Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was covered in it before Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Dallas Mavericks. And the exact color will probably be open to interpretation.

A yellow-brownish hue, the color changes somewhat based on the light. Golden, caramel tones come through in one light, only for muddier tones to overwhelm it as Gilgeous-Alexander moves along. And with leather pants, shirt, gloves, bag and tie all matching, there’s a lot to take in.

The only pieces of the outfit in a different color are the shoes — a dark brown dress shoe from the look of it — and some black sunglasses.

However, the mustardy yellow getup could be the spiritual successor to the aggressive, ketchup red leather suit that comedian Eddie Murphy made famous when he wore it for the taping of his iconic stand up special, “Delirious.”

So whether it’s brown, gold, yellow, or the mustard to Murphy’s ketchup, Gilegous-Alexander certainly made an impression with the outfit.

And for whatever gets said about Gilgeous-Alexander’s getup online — some users related the color to a certain bodily function — his play on the court will probably matter more to him and everyone else when push comes to shove and the series tips off.

Gilgeous-Alexander recently became a father

Gilgeous-Alexander and his wife Hailey Summers are new parents. On May 1, the couple announced the birth of their first child via Instagram.

Ares Alexander was born on April 25 at 10:25 p.m. local time. As mentioned by The Oklahoman, this was the night that the Oklahoma City Thunder star and his team traveled to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans. The Thunder won two games in New Orleans to sweep the Pelicans and advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs.

Gilgeous-Alexander and Summers got married on Valentine’s Day and began dating in 2016. Summers is a former University of Albany soccer player, and Gilgeous-Alexander played at the University of Kentucky before heading to the NBA in 2018.
