In the 2024 NASCAR season, Shane van Gisbergen is going to be fairly busy. There are likely going to be weekends when he doubles up on his duties. The New Zealander revealed the extent of his schedule for the next year in a recent interview.

Bringing three Supercars championships and a wealth of experience, Shane van Gisbergen is one of the hottest names in NASCAR right now. He won his first-ever Cup Series race in the Chicago Street Course event.

Signed with Trackhouse Racing on a developmental deal, the driver will race across NASCAR’s three national series.

“I kind of know what I’m doing. It’s not fully confirmed or announced yet, but I’ll end up hopefully doing 30 races or even 40 if I get enough mixed classes,” SVG said on the Gypsy Tales Podcast.

“It will be mainly in the Xfinity Series but a lot of Cup races and maybe some Truck stuff too. … It’s just an experience year so I’m ready for hopefully ’25 when I’m in the Cup Series full-time, I’m ready to go and understand what’s happening every week.”

Shane van Gisbergen is passionate about racing. He has fun driving and you can tell. With how much work he put in to be a three-time champion in Australian Supercars, SVG is ready for the next challenge.

In two appearances in the Cup Series, SV has a win and a top-10 finish. That’s wild. While he will have to catch up on the ovals, I have a feeling van Gisbergen is going to be a star.

It will be interesting who fields him in Xfinity and Trucks. I imagine Kaulig and Niece, as well as Spire, are all options for those series.

Shane van Gisbergen coming to America

Soon, van Gsibegen will make the trip to America and get started on his NASCAR journey. When he agreed to do the Chicago race, I don’t think he expected to win and propel himself into stardom. The facts show that race was one of the most viewed of the season and SVG was a big part of that.

In the footsteps of Marcus Ambrose, van Gisbergen is hoping to be a real championship contender. Based on how much NASCAR has turned to road and street racing, he has a real chance of making it happen.

Watkins Glen and the Charlotte Roval are in the playoffs now. While SVG isn’t a full-time Cup driver yet, if that remains the same, he could make his way to the Round of 8 with strong performances at those tracks.

Trackhouse Racing wants to bring the talent here. So, they went out and got it. Shane van Gisbergen is hoping to go full-time in 2025. If Trackhouse has room for him remains to be seen. Charters aren’t cheap and they aren’t just sold every day.

Even if Trackhosue can’t give him a ride, I’m sure someone else will.
